REECE KELLY AND GEORGIA WRIGHT FROM WORKINGTON SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC CHILD MURDER AND NEGLECT

Reece Kelly, a 31-year-old man from Workington, has been handed a life sentence in prison following his conviction for the murder of his four-month-old son, Dallas Kelly. The tragic incident, which occurred in October 2021, shocked the local community and drew significant attention from law enforcement and the judiciary.

Kelly was found guilty of both murder and child cruelty after a thorough investigation and court proceedings. The evidence presented revealed that Kelly inflicted fatal injuries on Dallas by shaking him with considerable force. Medical experts testified that the injuries sustained by Dallas were comparable to those caused by a fall from a multi-storey building or a severe traffic collision, underscoring the brutality of the abuse.

In addition to Kelly's sentencing, his partner, Georgia Wright, aged 23, was also held accountable. She received a three-year prison sentence after being convicted of child cruelty. The court heard that Wright was complicit in neglecting their infant son, contributing to a pattern of irresponsible and harmful behavior.

Detective Superintendent Jenny Beattie, who led the investigation, described Kelly as a 'monster' and criticized both parents for their selfishness and failure to take responsibility. She emphasized that they had numerous opportunities to act in their child's best interest but chose not to, leading to the devastating loss of Dallas's life.
