REECE HENDERSON'S HORRIFIC ATTACK IN PERRY BARR: EX-GIRLFRIEND BRUTALLY BEATEN AND THREATENED

Reece Henderson, a 20-year-old man with a troubling history of violence and substance abuse, carried out a brutal and prolonged assault on his former girlfriend in his residence located in Perry Barr. The incident, which lasted approximately 45 minutes, was marked by extreme violence and disturbing behavior that left the victim severely traumatized.

According to court reports, Henderson's attack began with him grabbing his ex-partner by the hair, forcefully pulling her to the ground, and then kicking her multiple times. During this assault, he demanded that she 'pull down her knickers' so he could check if she had been unfaithful, a humiliating and invasive demand that added to the trauma she endured. At one point, Henderson held her by the throat with such force that she was unable to breathe for nearly half a minute, an act that left her with limited mobility in her neck the following day. The violence only ceased when she started gasping for air, signaling the end of the attack.

In addition to the physical assault, Henderson caused property damage by shattering her iPhone, which he then threw against a wall, resulting in a loss valued at approximately £1,000. This act of destruction was part of a broader pattern of aggressive behavior. It is noteworthy that Henderson was only three months into serving a suspended two-year sentence for previous violent offenses when he committed this assault. During the attack, he struck his girlfriend around the head three times, pushed her onto the bed, and even shoved his fingers down her throat, further demonstrating the severity of his violence.

Throughout the incident, Henderson made threatening remarks, including threats to kill himself and claims that he had no money to buy food, which prompted the victim to bring him some. He also issued threats to break her teeth and warned that he would post a photo of her brother on Facebook, asking others to physically assault him. These threats added a layer of psychological torment to the physical abuse she suffered.

Following the assault, the victim was left with visible injuries, including bruises on her legs, face, and finger, as well as a large hair tangle pulled from her scalp. The court heard that she was deeply affected by the ordeal, both physically and emotionally.

Reece Henderson was convicted on charges of actual bodily harm, criminal damage, and malicious communication. On August 10, at Birmingham Crown Court, he was sentenced to three years in prison. The court was informed that Henderson had a history of cheating on his girlfriend, who was only 17 at the time, and had engaged in both emotional and physical abuse, making her feel worthless. His defense team acknowledged the length of the assault but emphasized his ongoing struggles with mental health issues and substance addiction, including daily consumption of large quantities of whiskey and cocaine use. Henderson has completed part of an alcohol monitoring program and is currently on medication for depression.

The judge highlighted that Henderson's relationship with the victim was characterized by controlling and abusive behavior, and that he was in breach of a previous suspended sentence when he committed this violent attack. The case underscores the ongoing issues of domestic violence and the importance of addressing mental health and addiction problems in offenders.
