DONOVAN BROWN FROM PERRY BARR CONVICTED OF RAPE IN WEST BROMWICH

A man named Donovan Brown has been convicted of a serious sexual assault that took place after a night out in West Bromwich. The incident involved him picking up a vulnerable woman who had been heavily drinking and then taking her to his residence in Perry Barr, where he committed the assault.

The court proceedings took place at Birmingham Crown Court, where Brown, aged 38, was found guilty of raping a woman over the age of 16. The court has scheduled his sentencing for April 25, which will also be held at Birmingham Crown Court.

The events unfolded on the evening of August 3 last year. After a night out in West Bromwich, the woman, who was intoxicated, asked Brown to take her home. Instead of complying with her request, Brown drove her to his address in Perry Barr. It was there that he committed the assault.

The woman awoke the following morning, August 4, to find Brown raping her. Following the assault, Brown then drove her back to the location where he had initially picked her up. She subsequently reported the incident to the authorities.

Law enforcement agencies launched an investigation into the matter. They obtained CCTV footage that clearly showed Brown with the woman during the night. The footage helped trace the journey from the scene in West Bromwich to his residence in Perry Barr. Based on this evidence, officers arrested Brown a few days later.

Throughout the investigation, the woman provided a consistent and truthful account of what transpired. In contrast, Brown offered a changing version of events, which ultimately contributed to his conviction.
