MAN 'STRANGLED' SISTER IN VIOLENT FAMILY ROW OVER WASHING
A man named Reece Bellwood attempted to strangle his sister during an argument over some washing at their family home in Almondbury.The 28-year-old, who currently resides on Leef Street in Moldgreen, flew into a rage and attacked his sibling at the Harvey Royd address while their mother was present.
According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on May 24, when Bellwood was living with his mother and sister.
The court heard that after an argument over clothes washing, the sister went upstairs and shut her door.
Bellwood followed her, pushed her onto her bed, and then tried to strangle her, holding onto her throat with his hands despite her attempts to slap him to stop him.
Bellwood has pleaded not guilty to the charge of common assault.
He appeared at Kirklees Magistrates' Court and the trial is scheduled for November 25, with unconditional bail granted.
The court was informed that the offence took place in his family's residence, and the judge will hear the case at Huddersfield court.
