RAYMOND TURNBULL'S SHOCKING CRIMES IN FAWDON: CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND EXTREME VIDEOS REVEALED
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Fawdon, Newcastle, Raymond Turnbull, a married man with a military background, was found to possess a horrifying collection of indecent images and videos involving children. The 60-year-old, who served for two decades in the Armed Forces, became the subject of a police investigation after authorities uncovered his illicit material stored on electronic devices at his residence. In January of the previous year, Northumbria Police’s Online Paedophile Investigation Team executed a search warrant at Turnbull’s home on Fawdon Park Road, Fawdon. During the raid, officers seized multiple electronic devices, including a computer and two hard drives. Subsequent analysis revealed a disturbing cache of 506 indecent images and videos depicting minors, with 94 classified as Category A, the most severe classification involving penetrative sexual acts with children. The images included young girls as young as seven years old, highlighting the grave nature of the material.
In addition to the images, authorities discovered 16 videos of extreme pornography, which depicted women engaging in sexual acts with animals. Prosecutors emphasized the severity of these findings, noting the presence of highly disturbing content involving both minors and animals. The browsing history on Turnbull’s internet browser also indicated searches related to underage and teenage pornography, further implicating his involvement in the possession and viewing of such material.
Turnbull, a resident of Fawdon Park Road, initially denied downloading any indecent images or videos of children during police interviews. He claimed that his interest was limited to adult pornography. However, once presented with concrete evidence from his seized devices, he confessed to possessing the illicit material. His guilty plea to three counts of making indecent images of children and one count of possessing extreme pornographic videos led to his appearance at Newcastle Crown Court for sentencing.
Judge Simon Batiste sentenced Turnbull to a 10-month prison term, which was suspended for 18 months. The judge highlighted the aggravating factors of the case, including the use of a computer that was accessible to his children and grandchildren, raising concerns about the potential risk to minors in his household. The court also imposed a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and mandated that Turnbull register as a sex offender for the same period.
This case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies in Northumbria to combat online child exploitation and the possession of extreme pornography. The community remains vigilant, and authorities continue to emphasize the importance of reporting suspicious activity to protect vulnerable individuals from harm.
