DAVID WALDON INVOLVED IN DOG ATTACK IN NEWCASTLE
David Walden was reportedly the owner of the crossbreed dogs that attacked a male council worker, leaving him with serious injuries, before the animals were destroyed. The incident occurred in Fawdon, Newcastle, when the pets attacked the man on the street.A court heard that the victim, believed to be in his 60s, sustained extensive injuries to his nose, lip, scalp, and hand, requiring two surgical procedures.
Walden, 42, formerly residing on Amherst Road in Fawdon and now living on Kenton Road in Gosforth, appeared in court to face three charges of owning a dog that was dangerously out of control and caused injury. He limited his remarks to confirming his name, date of birth, and address, and entered not guilty pleas to all charges.
District Judge Paul Currer declined jurisdiction, stating, "Your case is so serious that I can't deal with it at this court. I'm sending you to Newcastle Crown Court to be dealt with there. You must next appear there on June 11 at 10am. It's in the same building, just on the floors above. Please attend. If you fail to attend, you could potentially commit an offence under the Bail Act."
The judge added, "I'm sure you will attend, I just have to give you that warning."
As previously reported on ChronicleLive, the alleged victim was a Newcastle City Council worker performing a routine repair when the attack occurred.
The dogs involved are believed to have been Presa Canarios, a breed not banned in the UK, but they were described in court as crossbreeds.
