MAN ENGAGED IN SEXUAL ACTIVITY WITH A WOMAN WHO HE WAS CARING FOR
Raymond Seaborne, aged 66, received a 12-month prison sentence in April after he was found to have engaged in sexual activity with a woman he was caring for in Sussex during 2024.Following the revelation, the family of the woman are encouraging the public to trust their instincts whenever something feels off, especially after they uncovered the incident through CCTV footage they had installed.
In an anonymous interview, the woman's daughter-in-law expressed her shock, emphasizing the trust placed in Seaborne to look after her vulnerable relative.
She stated: "I was utterly shocked, particularly this is a person who you have put your whole trust in to care for someone who is exceedingly vulnerable." She further added: "It felt like a complete abuse of trust, I felt abhorrence and disgust.
"We want to get [Seaborne's] name out there and let people know this does go on.
"I hope it is rare, but people need to take care and take steps to protect their loved ones if they can." The daughter-in-law recounted that she was reviewing CCTV footage placed inside her mother-in-law’s home when she discovered evidence suggesting a sexual assault had taken place.
After reporting her findings to Sussex Police, Seaborne was detained and charged with engaging in sexual activity with a mentally disordered woman while acting as her caregiver, and for engaging in such activity in front of a person with a mental disorder.
In addition to his prison term, Seaborne was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order to prevent further offenses.
