RAY HUDSON FROM BALLYMUN SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IN DUBLIN
In a case that has spanned over two decades, Ray Hudson, a 55-year-old man from Ballymun, was sentenced to five years in prison by Judge Katherine Delahunt at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. The conviction stems from his admitted involvement in the sexual abuse of a young boy, which occurred in 1985 when the victim was only five years old.Hudson, who has been blind for most of his life due to a genetic condition, appeared in court to face the charges. The judge confirmed that arrangements had been made within the prison system to accommodate his disability, ensuring that his needs would be properly managed during his incarceration.
The defendant pleaded guilty to two counts of buggery related to the abuse of the young boy. The court heard that the abuse took place in Ballymun, specifically on Coultry Road, where Hudson resided. The case was brought to light after the now 27-year-old man, who was a child at the time of the incident, provided a statement read aloud in court.
The victim recounted his earliest memories, describing a disturbing image of “a naked man hovering over me to satisfy his sexual needs,” and also recalled that the man had bought him toys, which added a layer of manipulation and grooming to the abuse. These harrowing details underscored the severity of the case and the lasting impact on the victim.
Judge Delahunt emphasized the seriousness of the crimes and the importance of protecting children from such harm. The five-year sentence reflects the court’s judgment on the gravity of the offenses committed by Ray Hudson, who now faces the consequences of his actions in a prison setting.
