HATFIELD MAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON TWO WOMEN
A Hatfield man who "cruelly" took advantage of two young women by sexually assaulting them has been jailed.Herts Police launched an investigation after it was alleged Ravi Modi, 48, from Fern Dells, touched two women inappropriately without their consent on two separate occasions.
The offences occurred at an address sometime during the winter of 2012 and in September 2019.
The second offence was reported to the police and enquiries led to the discovery of the earlier offence, which had not previously been disclosed.
Ravi was investigated and subsequently summoned to court, where he denied the allegations against him, taking the matter to trial.
He was found guilty of the two sexual assaults during a hearing on Wednesday, June 27.
On Monday (July 25) he was sentenced at St Albans Crown Court to three years and four months in jail.
He was also given a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, a restraining order and placed on the Sex Offenders Register.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Caroline Niwaz, said: “I’d like to thank the two victims for the courage they have shown throughout.
Being put through a trial is not easy, but justice has ultimately been done and I hope they can now begin to put this behind them.
“Modi cruelly took advantage of two young women who had travelled to the UK to study.
His behaviour was completely unacceptable and I am pleased that he has now faced the consequences of his despicable actions.”
