PECKHAM MAN JAILED FOR BREACHING CHILD SAFEGUARDING COURT ORDERS
A man from Peckham, Rashid Harif, has been sentenced to over two years in prison after breaching a court order intended to protect young girls. Harif, aged 24 and with a history of drug-related convictions, was found to have violated a slavery and trafficking risk order (STRO) issued in July 2021. The violation occurred when police in Peterborough stopped his car on September 5 of the previous year, noticing a strong smell of cannabis. Harif was one of four people searched during the stop, where officers uncovered fifteen "deal bags" of cannabis and found he was in possession of a mobile phone not registered with police, constituting a breach of the STRO. Additionally, Harif provided an address under police custody that was not his residence, further breaching the court order. He pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis and two counts of breaching the STRO in court and was sentenced to 2 years and 3 months imprisonment. Detective Constable Kyle Miskin highlighted Harif's past convictions, his association with teenage girls under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and emphasized that the court considered him a significant risk to vulnerable young females, justifying his sentence.
