BRADFORD MAN JAILED FOR SENDING EXPLICIT IMAGES TO AN UNDERAGE GIRL AND TAKING UPSKIRT PHOTOS
A judge has jailed a man who sent a photograph of his penis to an underage girl and later took an “upskirting” picture of her underwear.Bradford Crown Court heard how Qazi Mohammed, now 23, of Trenton Drive, White Abbey, Bradford, will now have to register as a sex offender for the next decade.
Prosecutor Ella Embleton-Brown said Mohammed sent a photograph of himself holding his erect penis to the girl, made sexual advances towards her, and took the upskirting image for “sexual gratification”.
He told his victim to keep their interactions secret.
She was later said to have suffered significant psychological harm.
After being arrested, he gave mostly “no comment” answers in an interview.
He pleaded guilty on the day of trial to causing a child to watch a sexual act and was convicted by a jury after a trial of voyeurism.
Mitigating, barrister Deborah Smithies said Mohammed had no previous convictions and there had been no suggestion of wrongdoing since.
His actions were said to be out of character.
Sentencing Mohammed, His Honour Judge Jonathan Rose said he agreed with the assessment of a probation officer that said Mohammed posed “a high risk of serious harm” to children.
He added: “You, and those like you who commit sexual offences against children … and who do so for their own selfish sexual gratification, must know that the consequences will always be the deprivation of liberty.
Only an immediate sentence of imprisonment is sufficient to meet the gravity of your offending.” He made Mohammed subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order with the terms to be agreed at a future date.
