PHILLIP ALLEN FROM MILTON KEYNES AND POTTERSPURY PLEADS GUILTY TO CHILD INDECENT IMAGE OFFENSES

In a case that has shocked the local communities of Milton Keynes and Potterspury, Phillip Allen, a 48-year-old teacher from Potterspury, has admitted to a series of serious criminal charges related to the possession of indecent images of children. The proceedings took place at Northampton Magistrates Court, where Allen appeared to face seven separate charges concerning his illegal activities.

Allen, who was employed as a religious education teacher at Shenley Brook End School in Milton Keynes, was found to have stored a significant number of illicit images on multiple devices. Specifically, police investigations revealed that he possessed a total of 255 indecent images depicting children in various categories of severity. Of these, a disturbing 172 images were classified as Category A, indicating the most extreme form of indecency. The remaining images were categorized as 46 in Category B and 37 in Category C, reflecting a range of severity but all involving illegal content.

During the court appearance, Allen was dressed in a dark suit and tie, presenting a composed demeanor as he faced the charges. He was also accused of possessing two prohibited images, further compounding the severity of his offenses. In a straightforward manner, Allen pleaded guilty to all seven charges brought against him.

The prosecution, led by Jerena Tomaszewska, detailed that the incriminating images were discovered on three different devices: Allen’s laptop, an iPad, and an external hard drive. These devices were seized during a police raid conducted in June of this year at the house Allen shares with his wife. The police investigation was prompted by suspicions that led to the search, ultimately uncovering the illicit material.

Following the guilty plea, the case was transferred from Northampton Magistrates Court to Northampton Crown Court for sentencing, which is scheduled for November 11. Allen has been granted conditional bail, with the stipulation that he must avoid any unsupervised contact with individuals under the age of 18. This condition aims to prevent any potential harm while legal proceedings continue.

Phillip Allen is a well-known figure in the educational community, having frequently contributed articles to the Times Educational Supplement and being recognized for his work in religious education. Despite his professional reputation, the court has made it clear that the crimes he has admitted to carry the possibility of a custodial sentence of up to one year, reflecting the gravity of his offenses and the serious concern they raise about safeguarding children and the integrity of educational professionals.
