TODMORDEN PAEDOPHILE JAILED AFTER PLANNING 'SEXY PHOTOSHOOT' WITH DECOY 13-YEAR-OLD
A Todmorden pensioner who discussed meeting up with “a 13-year-old girl” and taking photographs of her naked has been jailed for 30 months.
Philip Walters, now 72, thought he was chatting online with the teenager back in 2023, but Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday (Tuesday 17) that the profile was a decoy set up as part of a police operation.
Prosecutor Ella Embleton-Brown said Walters told the undercover officer, who was posing as the girl, that he was 59 and did “sexy photo shoots”.
The court heard that Walters, of Longfield Way, told the decoy to delete their online chats and even admitted during one message that he knew it was wrong to think about her sexually.
Mrs Embleton-Brown said Walters discussed sexual acts, meeting up, and taking photographs of the girl while she was naked.
Walters was arrested by police back in May 2023 and when his laptop was forensically examined, officers found five indecent images of children.
Walters eventually pleaded guilty to charges of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity, attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, and possession of indecent images of children.
The judge made him the subject of a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and he will have to register as a sex offender with the police for the remainder of his life.
