PHILIP TURNER FROM COSBY JAILED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN LEICESTERSHIRE

In a significant crackdown on online child exploitation, Philip Michael Turner, a 40-year-old resident of Forrester Close in Cosby, has been sentenced to four years and three months in prison for possessing a substantial collection of indecent images of children. The conviction was secured at Nottingham Crown Court, where Turner faced 11 counts related to the possession of these illicit materials.

Turner’s arrest in 2003 was part of a broader initiative known as Operation Ore, an international effort aimed at dismantling networks of internet-based pedophiles. This operation was initiated after the FBI provided British authorities with details of UK credit card transactions used to purchase illegal images from American websites. The investigation revealed a disturbing scale of online child exploitation, leading to the seizure of nearly 300 computers by Leicestershire police and the discovery of over 75,000 indecent images since 2002.

Following his conviction, Turner was placed on the sex offenders register for life, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities to prevent further harm. Additionally, he was permanently barred from working with children, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the potential risk he poses to society.

Detective Constable Emmy Thresh, a member of the Leicestershire Police investigation team, emphasized the importance of the case, stating, “The outcome of the case sends a strong message to those involved in this type of crime. We are committed to tracking offenders down and bringing them to justice.”
