PHILIP PERRETT FROM CORSHAM JAILED FOR CHILD ABUSE FILMS DISTRIBUTION IN THE UK AND BEYOND

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Corsham and the wider region, Philip Perrett, a 67-year-old resident of Arnolds Mead in Corsham, has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison for his involvement in the distribution of highly disturbing and illegal material depicting child abuse. The case, which was heard at Swindon Crown Court, revealed the extent of Perrett's criminal activities, which spanned over four years and involved the sharing of hundreds of illicit videos and images.

Perrett, who previously worked at Peter Gabriel’s renowned Real World Studios located in Box, was found to have used digital communication platforms such as Skype and email to disseminate these heinous materials to other paedophiles across the globe. The court was informed that many of the images and videos he possessed depicted children aged between one and 15 years old, often shown in states of pain, distress, or suffering, highlighting the severity and depravity of his actions.

Prosecutor Tessa Hingston outlined to the court that the police were alerted to Perrett’s activities by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in the United States. Following this tip-off, law enforcement officials executed a search at his residence. During the investigation, Perrett admitted that the computer found at his home was his and that he had been downloading such material for more than four years. The authorities uncovered a staggering collection of illicit content, with 345 films and 46 images classified in the most severe category of abuse. Additionally, there were 109 films and 87 images in a middle category, along with 18 films and 63 images in a less severe category.

Officers also noted that a significant volume of material remained unclassified due to the sheer quantity, as the investigation was halted once a certain threshold was reached. It was revealed that Perrett had distributed a total of 533 movies and images, predominantly in the most serious category, on more than 250 separate occasions. This extensive distribution underscores the gravity of his criminal conduct.

Perrett pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including three counts of making indecent images of children and two counts of distributing such images. The court heard that his actions involved not only possession but also the active dissemination of these illegal materials, which amplifies the severity of his crimes.

Judge Tim Mousley QC delivered the sentence, emphasizing the seriousness of the distribution offences. He stated, “The distribution offences are the most serious. You were searching for these images and there was a large number of victims. Every child in those images was a victim of sexual assault.”

In addition to the prison term, Perrett was subject to a sexual harm prevention order, which prohibits him from working with children or vulnerable adults in the future. The court’s decision reflects the ongoing efforts to protect potential victims and prevent individuals like Perrett from reoffending, especially given the disturbing nature of his crimes and the widespread distribution of the illicit content.
