PHILIP PARKER FROM BISHOP’S STORTFORD SENTENCED FOR DECADES OF CHILD ABUSE IN ESSEX AND LETCHWORTH
In a case that spanned over three decades, Philip Parker, a man with a disturbing history of predatory behavior, has been sentenced to 19 years in prison for his heinous crimes against three young girls. The abuse, which took place between 1968 and 2004, occurred while Parker was residing in the towns of Letchworth and Essex, highlighting a long-standing pattern of criminal conduct that went unpunished for many years.Described as a violent and predatory rapist, Parker, now 63 years old and formerly living at Coopers Villas, Takeley, was known for his lack of remorse and empathy. During the period of his abuse, he threatened his victims with death should they ever disclose what was happening to them, instilling fear and silence that lasted for years. It was only after many years that the three women, who are now adults, found the courage to speak out about their suffering, breaking the silence that had kept their trauma hidden for so long.
The investigation into Parker’s crimes culminated in his arrest in 2015. Following a comprehensive three-week trial held earlier this year, the jury found him guilty of 10 counts of child rape. The severity of his crimes and the predatory nature of his actions were acknowledged by the court during sentencing.
On Friday, June 9, at St Albans Crown Court, Judge Stephen Warner handed down the sentence, which includes a 19-year prison term. Additionally, Parker was ordered to be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life and was subjected to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, reflecting the court’s concern for public safety and the ongoing risk he poses.
Judge Warner described Parker as “predatory,” “controlling,” and “without shame or empathy,” emphasizing the dangerous and calculated nature of his offenses. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) commended the bravery of the three victims, acknowledging their strength in coming forward after years of silence. Their courage has been instrumental in bringing Parker to justice and ensuring that he faces the consequences of his actions.
