MAN JAILED IN CONNECTION WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT
A man was convicted and subsequently sentenced at St Albans Crown Court on Thursday 5 February for a sexual assault in Bishop’s Stortford.The defendant, Ahmadreza Khalafi, 29, with no fixed address, was sentenced to four and a half years in prison, in addition to a three-year extension on his licence, after pleading guilty to four counts of sexual touching in a prior hearing.
He was also subject to a 10-year restraining order.
The attack took place in the early hours around 2:50am in the town centre on Saturday, 3 May 2025.
Nearby security personnel observed the incident and quickly alerted law enforcement.
Khalafi was apprehended and detained shortly thereafter.
The East Herts CID conducted an investigation which resulted in formal charges that the Crown Prosecution Service approved.
During his initial court appearance on 2 December, Khalafi admitted to the charges and was remanded into custody before his sentencing.
