PHILIP CAPEL FROM SILVERDALE CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AGAIN AFTER LIVING IN CAR

In August 2021, a disturbing case emerged involving Philip Capel, a man from Silverdale, who found himself back in trouble after a series of serious allegations related to child exploitation. Capel, a 65-year-old former delivery driver, had previously been convicted of possessing indecent images of minors at his residence in Cross Heath. Despite serving time and being subjected to a five-year sexual harm prevention order, he continued to pose a significant risk.

Following his initial conviction in 2016, Capel claimed he was being 'victimised' when neighbors became aware of his court case, which drew public attention and shame. The court had imposed strict conditions, including a ban on deleting his internet browsing history, to prevent further offenses. However, during a routine visit by risk assessors to his new address on Leycett Lane in Silverdale, authorities uncovered disturbing evidence that suggested he had not heeded the restrictions.

Investigators discovered indecent images of children on Capel’s devices, along with links to a Russian website featuring graphic and sickening photographs of minors. The findings were presented at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, where it was revealed that Capel’s browsing history contained explicit material that violated the terms of his previous order. The court heard that Capel is known to be sexually attracted to young girls, which further heightened concerns about his ongoing risk to children.

As a result of these violations, Capel was charged with breaching his sexual harm prevention order, possessing indecent photographs of children, and possessing an extreme pornographic image. He pleaded guilty to all charges, and the court sentenced him to six months in prison. Judge Paul Glenn emphasized the gravity of the case, stating, “In October 2016, for offences of indecent images of children, you were made a five-year sexual harm prevention order. You deleted the internet history on your phone. You are sexually attracted to young female children.”

Capel’s repeated offenses and failure to comply with court orders highlight the ongoing dangers posed by individuals with a history of child exploitation. His case underscores the importance of vigilant monitoring and strict enforcement of restrictions designed to protect vulnerable children from predatory behavior.
