PETRO NINICHUK SENTENCED FOR BRUTAL SEXUAL ASSAULT IN SEVENOAKS

A man identified as Petro Ninichuk has been formally sentenced to a period of imprisonment following a disturbing sexual assault that took place on a train traveling through Kent. The incident, which shocked the local community, occurred on Sunday, January 27, and involved a 15-year-old girl who was traveling with a friend en route to Sevenoaks.

According to reports, Ninichuk, aged 37 and residing on Station Street in Brighton, approached the young girl during the journey. He forcibly grabbed her hand and pulled her to sit in front of him, disregarding her protests and her clear statement that she was only 15 years old. Despite her explicit declaration of her age, Ninichuk continued his assault, engaging in a prolonged and brazen sexual attack that left the victim distressed and frightened.

The victim’s friend, witnessing the escalation of the situation, took immediate action by approaching another passenger on the train. This individual responded swiftly, inviting the girls to sit with him in an effort to de-escalate the situation and provide safety. As the train approached Sevenoaks station, the friend promptly alerted station security staff about the incident. Security personnel acted quickly, identifying Ninichuk on the train and recognizing him as the individual responsible for the assault.

In a further attempt to approach the victim at Sevenoaks station, Ninichuk falsely claimed, “that’s my girlfriend,” while he was in the company of security officers. This behavior prompted the British Transport Police to intervene immediately, leading to his arrest on the spot. The police took swift action, ensuring Ninichuk was detained and brought into custody.

On Friday, April 11, during proceedings at Inner London Crown Court, Ninichuk pleaded guilty to the charge of sexual assault. The court sentenced him to 19 weeks in prison. Additionally, he was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for a period of seven years, a measure intended to monitor and prevent future offenses.

Detective Sergeant Richard Osbourne, who was involved in the investigation, described the incident as “a truly disgusting and brazen sexual assault on a teenage girl, by a predator who knew full well she was just 15 years of age and chose to subject her to this prolonged attack.” He commended the quick thinking and bravery of the victim, her friend, and the bystander who intervened, emphasizing that their prompt reporting was crucial in enabling police to act swiftly and effectively.
