PUB MANAGER PETER WARRY FROM BASLOW JAILED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN OCTOBER 2012

In October 2012, a man involved in child pornography offenses while working as a pub manager in Baslow was sentenced to prison. Peter Warry, 37, who served as assistant manager at a local pub, was found to have downloaded and distributed illegal images of children. The crimes were uncovered when a schoolboy, the son of a colleague, borrowed Warry's laptop to complete homework; upon turning on the computer, indecent images appeared on the screen.

A subsequent search of Warry’s vehicle revealed another computer containing more than 200 images depicting sexual acts involving young children, some classified as extreme pornography. Police also found video files related to these images. It was established that Warry had downloaded the material and burned some onto DVDs to free up space on his computer.

Warry, who now resides on New Street in Newport, Gwent, South Wales, admitted to ten counts of making indecent photographs of children and six counts of distributing such images. He told authorities he had shared some of the images through an online MSN chatroom. Additionally, Warry confessed to two charges of possessing extreme pornography involving animals. The offenses occurred in Baslow on various dates between October 2010 and March 7.

The court sentenced Warry to 12 months in prison. Moreover, he was disqualified from working with children and is required to register as a sex offender.
