PETER WALLACE FROM MAIDSTONE FACES JAIL AFTER SEXUAL ABUSE CONVICTIONS
In a case that has shocked the community of Maidstone, Peter Wallace, aged 54, is now facing the possibility of a lengthy prison sentence after being found guilty of multiple serious sexual offences involving a young girl. The conviction comes after a detailed trial at Maidstone Crown Court, where Wallace vehemently denied all allegations brought against him.Prosecutor Nina Ellin outlined the case, revealing that the victim, a young girl, did not disclose the abuse at the time it occurred. Instead, she later expressed her feelings publicly on social media, posting a status on Facebook that read: “I hate men.” This post was seen as a reflection of her distress and the trauma she endured.
Wallace, who resides on Brewer Street in Maidstone, faced a total of eleven charges, including five counts of indecent assault, three counts of sexual activity with a child, one count of sexual assault, one count of indecency with a child, and one count of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. Throughout the trial, Wallace maintained his innocence, denying all allegations.
Despite his protests, the jury convicted him on all charges by a majority of ten to two. The court proceedings concluded with Judge Philip Statman granting Wallace bail until his sentencing scheduled for June 20. However, the judge issued a stern warning, emphasizing the gravity of the offences. He stated, “I am sure you appreciate these offences are very grave. The only issue for me on the next occasion is going to be how long the inevitable sentence is going to be.”
Throughout the trial, the judge also commended the remarkable bravery and dignity shown by the victim, acknowledging the emotional toll of the case. “It is a sad and tragic case,” Judge Statman added, highlighting the serious nature of the crimes and the impact on the victim’s life.
