PETER TOBIN'S HORRIFIC CRIMES SPANNING THE UK: MURDERS, SEX OFFENSES, AND MURDEROUS RAMPAGE

Peter Tobin, born on August 27, 1946, in Johnstone, Renfrewshire, is a notorious Scottish serial killer and sex offender whose heinous crimes have left a trail of devastation across the United Kingdom. Currently serving a life sentence at Edinburgh prison for the murders of three young women, Tobin's criminal history is marked by a series of violent and depraved acts that span decades and multiple locations.

Before his first conviction for murder, Tobin served a decade behind bars for a double rape committed in 1993. Following his release in 2004, his criminal activities continued to escalate. In 2007, he was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years after being convicted of the rape and murder of Angelika Kluk, a Polish student whose body was discovered under the floor of St Patrick's church in Glasgow, where Tobin had worked as an odd-job man under the alias Pat McLoughlin.

Further investigations uncovered skeletal remains of two other young women who had gone missing in 1991, found at Tobin's former residence in Margate. These discoveries linked him to additional murders, including that of Vicky Hamilton, whose body was found buried under a concrete patio in Bathgate. Tobin was convicted of her murder in December 2008, and his minimum sentence was subsequently increased to 30 years. He was also convicted of the murder of Dinah McNicol in December 2009, another victim whose remains were uncovered during police searches.

One of the most disturbing aspects of Tobin's criminal record involves his assault on two 14-year-old girls. On August 4, 1993, Tobin attacked these young girls at his flat in Leigh Park, Havant, after they had come to visit a neighbor who was not home. He held them at knifepoint, forcing them to drink strong cider and vodka. During the assault, Tobin sexually assaulted and raped both girls, and he stabbed one of them in the process. His younger son was present during the attack. Afterward, Tobin turned on the gas taps in an apparent attempt to kill the girls, leaving them for dead. Miraculously, both survived the ordeal.

Following this attack, Tobin went on the run to evade arrest. He sought refuge with a religious sect in Coventry, West Midlands, under a false name. His escape ended when he was captured in Brighton after police found his blue Austin Metro car there. On May 18, 1994, Tobin pleaded guilty at Winchester Crown Court and was sentenced to 14 years in prison for kidnapping, drugging, and violently assaulting the two girls. He was released in 2004, at the age of 58, and moved back to Paisley.

Throughout his life, Tobin has been characterized by psychologists as a psychopath. A senior psychologist and criminology professor David Wilson, who authored a book linking Tobin to the infamous Bible John murders of the late sixties, have both described him as a profoundly disturbed individual.

His criminal timeline reveals a pattern of escalating violence and depravity. Tobin's early life was marred by violence and instability, including forced marriages, kidnapping, and repeated acts of brutality. His first marriage to Margaret Mountney, whom he allegedly kidnapped and raped, ended after he was jailed for burglary and forgery. His subsequent marriages, including one to 16-year-old Cathy Wilson, were also marked by violence and instability.

In 1991, Tobin's crimes took a darker turn when Vicky Hamilton went missing while waiting for a bus in Bathgate. Less than a month later, Tobin moved from Bathgate to Margate with her body in the back of his van, dismembered and wrapped in a curtain and bin bags. Her murder marked the beginning of a series of brutal killings that would span across the UK.

His criminal activities continued with the kidnapping and assault of two 14-year-old girls in Hampshire, for which he was jailed in 1994. After his release, Tobin's crimes persisted, culminating in the murder of Angelika Kluk in Glasgow in 2006, whose body was hidden under a church floor. His arrest in London in October 2006 was triggered by a hospital staff member recognizing him as the suspect in the Kluk case. Subsequent police investigations linked him to the Vicky Hamilton case, leading to his formal charges and convictions.

Throughout his criminal career, Tobin's heinous acts have shocked the nation, revealing a pattern of violence, sexual assault, and murder that spans across the UK. His case remains one of the most disturbing in recent British criminal history, highlighting the importance of vigilant law enforcement and psychological profiling in tackling such depraved offenders.
