PETER THACKERAY FROM WELWYN GARDEN CITY SENTENCED FOR DECADE OF ABUSE AND RAPE OF YOUNG GIRLS

In a harrowing case that has shocked the community of Welwyn Garden City, Peter Thackeray, aged 54, has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for a series of heinous crimes committed over a span of ten years. The offences involved the repeated rape and sexual abuse of two young girls, with the abuse occurring between 1989 and 1999, when the victims were as young as nine and as old as 14.

Thackeray, a resident of Peartree Lane in Welwyn Garden City, was convicted by a jury on 11 counts that included rape and indecent assault. There is no remorse here at all – nothing but self-pity.”

One of the most disturbing revelations was that Thackeray committed a particularly egregious act within his own home, where he raped one of the victims in front of other young children. This detail underscores the depravity of his conduct and the breach of trust involved.

As part of his sentence, Thackeray was also subjected to a lifetime ban preventing him from spending a night in the same building as any child unless a parent who is aware of his offending is present.
