'BACK FROM DEAD' SEX OFFENDER MISSING FROM DUNOON - BBC NEWS
Police have appealed for help to trace a missing sex offender from Dunoon.Peter Roy Woodhouse, 69, was convicted at a court in Hawaii in January last year of indecent assault and stalking a woman.
Earlier this year his brother, Paul Woodhouse, told how he believed his sibling was dead until immigration officials in Honolulu called to say Peter was in their custody.
Peter Woodhouse was last seen at Glasgow Airport on 9 September.
Strathclyde Police said he was due to board the number 500 bus to Buchanan Bus Station in the city centre.
He is described as white, British, 5ft 8ins (1.73m) tall, of medium build, with blue eyes and short grey hair.
He speaks with an American accent.
When last seen he was wearing a black and red check shirt, black trousers, black lace-up shoes and a three-quarters length green anorak.
He was carrying a black nylon rucksack.
Det Insp Douglas Wilson said: "We know that Woodhouse has a number of alias names and has previously travelled throughout the USA and Canada where he was engaged in casual labour to support himself.
"It is possible that he has travelled elsewhere in the UK to seek similar casual work.
"Peter has failed to engage with the police and we now need to trace him as he is missing from his last known address." Anyone with any information was urged to contact police.
In February the 69-year-old's brother Paul Woodhouse, from Oban, spoke about learning he was still alive after believing for years his sibling had died in South Africa.
He said he was planning a family reunion after receiving a call from an immigration detention centre in Honolulu and hearing that his brother had been using his identity for almost 50 years.
