PETER JORDAN SENTENCED IN MALVERN FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES INVOLVING 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In October 2010, a man named Peter Jordan was sentenced to three years in prison after being convicted of sexually grooming and engaging in sexual activity with a girl who was only 14 years old.The incident came to light when the girl’s mother became concerned in June of the previous year after her daughter failed to return home.
The mother conducted a search, knocking on several doors in the neighborhood, before notifying the police.
Authorities responded by visiting Jordan’s address on Elgar Avenue, Malvern, but he initially claimed the girl was not there.
However, the following day, police entered the residence and found the girl in a bedroom inside the house.
Upon questioning, the girl revealed she had been in contact with Peter Jordan through her mobile phone.
She also admitted to having consensual sexual intercourse with him.
Prosecutor Simon Phillips told Worcester Crown Court that it was accepted that the act involved consent.
Representing Jordan, Richard Hull stated that Jordan had violated his bail conditions by being seen in a park kissing and cuddling the girl.
This breach led to Jordan being remanded in custody for 241 days.
Hull argued that Jordan had genuine feelings of affection, although he acknowledged that it was inappropriate for a 14-year-old girl.
Judge Michael Cullum noted that while Jordan pleaded not guilty to a charge of rape, the court considered that grooming had preceded the sexual activity, which was an aggravating feature.
The judge emphasized that such cases are handled in court to protect girls from manipulation and exploitation by older men.
As part of the sentence, Jordan was ordered to register as a sex offender and was disqualified for life from working with young people.
