A man named Peter Hussey, aged 34, was recorded on footage captured by a Ring doorbell camera as he was physically abusing two children.

The video, which was shared with the police by his ex-partner, depicted Hussey assaulting the children within their home.

Hussey was arrested the day after the incident and subsequently sentenced to 40 months in prison at Liverpool Crown Court on April 30, after being found guilty of assault and two counts of child neglect.

According to Detective Chief Inspector Simon Hurst, Hussey's acts were "utterly horrendous," leaving lasting physical and emotional scars on the victims.

He emphasized that the cruelty displayed was completely reprehensible and that the police welcomed Hussey's imprisonment to allow him to reflect on his actions.

The officer also commended Hussey's ex-partner for having the courage to come forward and report the abuse, encouraging others to do the same in cases of child neglect or domestic abuse.
