PETER HONEYFORD AND OTHERS FROM MIDDLEWICH SENTENCED FOR SADISTIC VIDEO TORTURE

In a disturbing case that shocked the community of Middlewich, four individuals have been brought to justice for their involvement in creating a heinous and sadistic video depicting the torture of a teenage girl. The incident, which took place in July of the previous year, culminated in a court hearing at Chester Crown Court where all four defendants faced sentencing for their roles in this gruesome act.

Peter Honeyford, aged 21 and residing on Davenham Way, was identified as the primary instigator of the assault. Janine Barrow, 39, of Coronation Road, was also implicated, along with Andrew Flavell, 19, and his younger brother Paul Flavell, aged 17, both of whom lived on Coronation Road as well. The court proceedings revealed that the assault occurred over a two-hour period at Barrow’s residence, which is also the home of Andrew and Paul Flavell.

The victim, a 17-year-old girl whose identity remains protected for legal reasons, was subjected to extreme cruelty during this ordeal. The police were alerted after the girl, showing signs of severe physical injuries, showed a video of the attack to her brother. This prompted concerns about her well-being, especially given the extensive bruising covering her body. The video, which was played in court, depicted the horrifying events in detail.

Prosecutor Matthew Dunford described the footage, stating, “Peter Honeyford sat with his weight on her throughout and can be seen bending her arms and legs. She can be heard screaming and crying out in pain, begging for it to stop.” The video also showed Barrow, who was described as behaving like a film director, and Andrew Flavell actively participating by striking the girl with a cable. At one point, a dog was even encouraged to lick her, adding to the disturbing nature of the footage.

While Paul Flavell did not physically participate in the assault, he was present during the filming and did not intervene to stop the abuse. The court heard that his role was more passive, yet his presence during such a brutal act was considered significant.

Defense attorney Peter Everitt argued that parts of the assault might have involved some level of consent from the girl, noting, “It doesn’t make easy viewing. It’s clear at times she was hurt, but what is important to note is even though she screams, she doesn’t cry.” However, the judge, Recorder Elgan Edwards, was unequivocal in his condemnation. He described the behavior as “bizarre” and “beyond that,” emphasizing the perverted and sadistic nature of the attack, which was clearly aimed at inflicting harm on a vulnerable young girl.

Sentencing reflected the severity of the crime. Honeyford received an eight-month prison sentence, while Barrow was given a six-month suspended sentence for two years, primarily due to her responsibilities in caring for her bed-ridden husband. Paul Flavell was handed a two-year community rehabilitation order, and Andrew Flavell received a conditional discharge for two years, indicating the court’s recognition of the different levels of involvement and circumstances of each defendant.
