Her next recollection was waking up in excruciating pain, a moment that marked the beginning of her suffering.
The court heard that Chennell inflicted 'quite appalling' internal injuries on his victim.

One expert suggested that her injuries were caused by the use of 'enormous blunt force,' possibly with an object such as a bottle.
