PAULA DOS REIS AND ANDREW BARKER SENTENCED FOR CHILD ABUSE IN CHORLEYWOOD AND LONDON

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local communities of Chorleywood, London, and Reis, a man and woman have been convicted and sentenced for their involvement in heinous child abuse crimes. The proceedings took place at Luton Crown Court, where both offenders pleaded guilty to a series of serious charges related to the exploitation and abuse of a young child.

Paula Dos-Reis, aged 28, who resides on Greencroft Gardens in Enfield, was found guilty of multiple offenses. Her crimes include the creation and distribution of indecent photographs of a child over a period spanning from October 2014 to June 2017. Additionally, she was charged with eight counts of causing a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activities, with these offenses occurring between October 2014 and May 2017. Further charges against her involved the handling of criminal property, with two counts of converting such property between February 2013 and May 2017.

Andrew Barker, aged 53, of Dog Kennel Lane in Chorleywood, was also convicted on multiple counts. His charges include eight counts of causing a child under 13 to participate in sexual acts, with these acts taking place from October 2014 to May 2017. Barker was also found guilty of making indecent images of children, possessing extreme pornography, and prohibited images of children, all between January 2011 and June 2017. His criminal record also includes the distribution of indecent images of children during the same period.

The investigation revealed a disturbing relationship between the two offenders, which escalated into a pattern of abuse. It was uncovered that Dos-Reis had supplied videos and images depicting her with a young child, in exchange for financial payments. The victim, whose age ranged from just two to six years old at the time of the abuse, was exploited over an extended period. The total amount paid to Dos-Reis by Barker was approximately £64,000, highlighting the extent of the criminal activity.

During the sentencing hearing, His Honour Judge Andrew Goymer described the crimes as ‘horrendous’ and emphasized the severity of the offenses committed. Both offenders received substantial prison sentences, with Dos-Reis being sentenced to six years in prison and Barker to six years and nine months. Furthermore, both individuals have been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of their activities. They are also subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that will remain in effect for 12 years, reflecting the court’s commitment to protecting the public from further harm.
