SERIAL RAPIST PAUL WILSON SENTENCED FOR DECADES OF ABUSE IN SOUTHPORT
A serial rapist who sexually abused three women remained emotionless as he was sentenced to decades in prison.Paul Wilson was found guilty of multiple sexual offences.
During the sentencing at Liverpool Crown Court, the judge described his crimes as "years of abuse, with three women being raped by you in total." Wilson repeatedly raped one woman over numerous years, even during some of the attacks when she screamed for him to stop.
He also targeted a second victim while she was sleeping and subjected another to a horrific sex attack until she was able to fight him off with a candle.
When asked why he committed these offences, Wilson responded with a harrowing six-word reply: "Because my head's up my a**e." The court heard details of his assaults, including a decade-long campaign of rape, assaults involving egg-throwing, kicking, stamping, and pushing victims onto floors.
Wilson has a criminal record that shows previous convictions for affray and driving matters, but no prior sexual offences.
Despite his history, Wilson denied the offences and sought to appeal, showing no remorse and failing to deal with past trauma.
The jury convicted him after two trials.
He is now sentenced to 21 years imprisonment with an additional five years on licence, required to serve two-thirds of his sentence before possible release, and he will be on the sex offenders' register for life.
Additionally, restraining orders ban him from contacting his victims indefinitely.
Detective Inspector Gavin Mulcahy praised the victims' bravery and emphasized the police force's commitment to supporting victims of sexual violence and bringing offenders to justice.
