PAUL WEAVER'S SHOCKING REIGN OF DEPRAVITY IN MAGHULL: SERIAL FLASER JAILED FOR 14 MONTHS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Maghull, Paul Weaver, a man who appeared to lead an ordinary life, was sentenced to prison after a series of indecent exposure incidents targeting a teenage girl. Weaver, aged 54, was known locally as a plasterer and a family man, having been married for over two decades and raising four children. However, beneath this façade, he harbored a troubling history of sexual offenses stretching back to the 1980s.According to court proceedings at Liverpool Crown Court, Weaver’s pattern of inappropriate behavior came to light when he exposed himself to a woman he had known for many years. The victim, who was shocked and distressed by the incident, promptly reported the matter to the police. Weaver subsequently pleaded guilty to the charge of indecent exposure during a court hearing last year. The case garnered media attention, notably through a report by the Echo, which prompted a previous victim to come forward with her own account of abuse.
This earlier victim recounted how, from her mid-teens, Weaver had engaged in voyeuristic behavior, often leering at her through windows while performing sexual acts. She also described instances where Weaver would appear naked or dressed only in a dressing gown in his garden as she walked past, seemingly aware of her presence. Prosecutor Trevor Parry Jones revealed that Weaver appeared to have memorized her school and paper round timetable, allowing him to time his inappropriate displays precisely. The victim confided in her mother about these incidents, but her concerns were dismissed at the time, forcing her to endure years of distress. It was only after reading the Echo article in November that her mother expressed regret, saying, “I’m sorry, I should have believed you.”
Weaver, who provided a bail address at Outer Forum, Norris Green, was arrested and subsequently admitted to the charges of indecent exposure. His criminal record includes convictions for similar offenses dating back to 1981, 1992, and 2001, illustrating a long-standing pattern of predatory behavior.
During the sentencing hearing, Weaver’s defense lawyer, Desmond Lennon, acknowledged his client’s seemingly respectable life outside these incidents, stating, “In every respect apart from these matters he presented an image as a model citizen and a credit to society but his dark secret has now been revealed. He deeply regrets what he has done.”
Judge Robert Trevor-Jones addressed Weaver directly, emphasizing the severity and duration of his offending. “You fall to be sentenced for a campaign of exposing yourself to a woman on a variety of occasions over a sustained period of time. It’s quite apparent that this is a deep-rooted fundamental part of your character which has shown itself on previous occasions. Within the very bosom of your community you were offending and disgusting people while you were apparently living at home enjoying a very stable and supportive family life. In one way it could be viewed as pathetic but it could also be intimidating.”
As a result, Weaver was sentenced to 14 months in prison. Additionally, he was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for the next ten years and was subject to a restraining order preventing him from approaching his victims or entering Maghull for five years. The case has left the local community shaken, highlighting the hidden dangers that can lurk behind seemingly normal facades.
