DUNDEE MAN SENT GRAPHIC MACHETE VIDEO TO PARTNER AND WAS SENTENCED FOR ABUSE
Paul Stewart, 38, sent a graphic video of a man’s arm being severed with a machete to his partner and threatened her with a similar fate, saying he would torch her and her family's cars.
He pleaded guilty at Dundee Sheriff Court to behaving abusively towards his partner between July 2023 and August 2024.
The court heard how police found a string of abusive messages on Stewart’s phone, including insults and threats to blow up vehicles for "5k." The messages also contained the video of a man’s arm being cut off, with Stewart writing: "This will be you if you keep up your cheek." Stewart described screaming in the woman’s face and being verbally abusive, asserting that he believed female partners do as they are told and that he had done nothing wrong.
Despite the abuse, the couple were still together.
He was sentenced to perform 270 hours of unpaid work and placed on social work supervision for 12 months, with the sheriff criticizing his attitude and lack of remorse.
