PAUL ROWLAND JAILED IN REDDITCH FOR SEX OFFENSES AGAINST YOUNG GIRLS
In October 1999, a supermarket worker from Worcestershire was sentenced to three years in prison for committing sexual offenses against two young girls.Paul Rowland, aged 31 and of Hightrees Close, Batchley, Redditch, carried out some of the assaults in a house and others in a caravan.
Prosecutor Mr. Adam Farrer told Worcester Crown Court that Rowland confessed to police that he 'fancied' one of the girls and did not perceive her as a child.
Rowland pleaded guilty to four counts of indecent assault and six counts of indecency with children, with the offenses spanning from 1989 to 1997.
Mr. Farrer explained that the former Tesco nightshift worker was arrested on the very day one victim reported the abuse to a teacher.
During the proceedings, Rowland admitted to touching the girls, encouraging them to fondle him, and even revealing that he showed one of them a pornographic movie.
Judge Andrew Geddes ordered that Rowland be registered as a sex offender for life, highlighting that he had exploited young girls. The judge noted that the ages of the victims and the duration of the abuse were aggravating factors in the case.
