PAUL ROBSON SENTENCED TO LIFE FOR BRUTAL MURDER IN WALLSEND

Paul Robson, a man with a notorious criminal past spanning over three decades, was handed a life sentence in connection with the murder of his former partner, Caroline Kayll, aged 47. Robson, who has accumulated an extensive record of 21 convictions for 92 separate offenses, was convicted at Newcastle Crown Court for the heinous crime that took place in Northumberland, specifically at Kayll’s residence in Wallsend.

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Robson carried out a sustained and vicious assault on Kayll, resulting in her tragic death. The attack occurred in November and involved multiple acts of violence. Robson’s assault included kicking her in the head while wearing heavy work boots, slashing her with knives, and possibly strangling her, which caused catastrophic brain injuries that ultimately led to her death. The court heard that the violence was particularly gratuitous and brutal, with Mr. Justice Lavender condemning the use of ammonia as a weapon during the attack, describing it as unforgivable.

Further details emerged about Robson’s history of blackmail and manipulation. It was disclosed that he had previously blackmailed Kayll regarding her relationship with a 15-year-old boy, despite her having paid him a substantial sum of £29,000 to keep her secret. The court also learned that Robson had attempted to kill the teenage boy involved with Kayll, adding a disturbing layer to his violent tendencies.

At the time of his conviction, Robson was also wanted on recall to prison for failing to meet the conditions set by his probation officer. His criminal behavior and failure to comply with legal obligations contributed to the severity of his sentencing. The judge, Mr. Justice Lavender, emphasized the brutality of Robson’s actions and the emotional devastation inflicted upon Kayll’s family and her former husband.
