PAUL PINKETT SENTENCED IN BRIDPORT AND WEYMOUTH FOR CHILD INDECENCY OFFENSES

In a case that has shocked the local communities of Bridport and Weymouth, Paul Douglas Pinkett, aged 41, has been sentenced to four years in prison after being found guilty of multiple charges related to the possession and distribution of indecent images of children. The court proceedings revealed a disturbing pattern of behavior involving Pinkett, who was accused of creating and sharing images depicting young girls as young as three years old.

Pinkett’s criminal activities came to light in September 2005 when authorities discovered approximately 150 indecent images and videos stored on his computer at his residence in Salwayash, a village near Bridport. The investigation uncovered that Pinkett had been actively involved in distributing these illicit materials via email. Evidence presented during the trial showed that emails exchanged between Pinkett’s computer and his brother Dean’s email account contained indecent images featuring very young children, further implicating Pinkett in the distribution network.

During the trial at Dorchester Crown Court, Pinkett vehemently denied any sexual interest in children. He claimed that the images found on his computer might have been the work of his son, suggesting an innocent explanation for their presence. However, the prosecution dismissed this assertion, and the jury found Pinkett guilty on 11 counts of distributing indecent images and 19 counts of making such images. The court was also informed that Pinkett’s brother, Dean Pinkett, committed suicide in February 2007, shortly after the allegations against Paul Pinkett surfaced, adding a tragic dimension to the case.

At the sentencing hearing, Pinkett, who provided his latest address as Honeyditches Drive, Seaton, maintained his innocence. His defense attorney, Tim Shorter, argued that Pinkett still denied any wrongdoing. Despite this, Judge Christopher Harvey Clark delivered a stern verdict, emphasizing the severity of Pinkett’s actions. The judge stated, “You show no acceptance of guilt and I am entitled to conclude that your deviant sexual attraction towards small children remains strong. One of the most distressing factors of this case was the suggestion that was made by you that your son was responsible for this material, that really was an offensive suggestion.”

Judge Harvey Clark sentenced Pinkett to four years in prison for the various offenses. He also issued a stark warning, saying, “I hope that you realize in due course that this conduct is totally reprehensible and disgusting and should never be repeated.” The authorities in Dorset declined to release a photograph of Pinkett to the media, citing privacy and security reasons, but the case remains a stark reminder of the ongoing fight against child exploitation and abuse in the region.
