PAUL PATTON FROM RYHL SENTENCED FOR CAT CRUELTY AND BANNED FROM KEEPING ANIMALS FOR TEN YEARS

Paul E. Patton, born around 1975 and residing at Morfa View, Rhyl LL18 5TT, was convicted in 2019 of killing a cat. The incident involved Patton deliberately kicking the cat, named Brody, three times, which court described as "a deliberate and gratuitous use of unlawful force." After running away, Brody was later found dead from his injuries.

An investigation was conducted by the RSPCA, including a post-mortem examination. Initially, Patton pleaded not guilty but subsequently admitted to the cruelty charge.

As part of his punishment, Patton received a 10-week custodial sentence, suspended for two years, along with costs of £3,500 to the RSPCA and a £115 surcharge. Additionally, he has been banned from keeping animals for ten years.

The case also prompted further disciplinary action. In the Update from February 2020, WalesOnline reported that the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) imposed a three-month suspension on Patton after assessing his fitness to practice. The NMC stated that this sanction was appropriate and proportionate, aiming to "satisfy the public interest in this case."

The incident has raised ongoing concerns regarding Patton’s conduct and professional standing as a nurse.
