SALISBURY MAN AVOIDS PRISON AFTER SEXUAL ASSAULT IN WILTON
A MAN who sexually assaulted a woman in Wilton has avoided prison.A 59-year-old man named Paul Kent, of South Street in Great Wishford, touched a woman sexually without her consent on August 20, 2024.
He indicated his guilt at Salisbury Magistrates' Court on June 5.
His sentencing hearing was adjourned to July 14 to allow the Probation Service to prepare a pre-sentence report.
Magistrates imposed a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.
Kent must complete 70 hours of unpaid work and 20 rehabilitation activity days.
He will be on the sex offenders' register for 10 years.
The prosecution applied for a two-year restraining order banning him from going to a street in Wilton, which was granted.
The court decided he would not pay compensation to the victim as it might cause more harm.
Magistrates also ordered him to pay £187 towards victim services and £85 in costs by September 12.
