MAN SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
A 36-year-old man from Wiltshire has received a prison sentence after admitting to multiple child sex-related crimes as well as possessing cocaine.Christopher Saunders-Pope, who resides on Randalls Croft Road in Wilton, was sentenced to three years and four months by HH Judge Townsend at Swindon Crown Court on 28 May.
The case followed an investigation conducted by the South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU).
The authorities arrested Saunders-Pope in March 2024 after he was found to be communicating online with an individual he believed was a teenage boy.
He had traveled within the county with the intention of meeting the youth for the purpose of sexual abuse.
However, he was apprehended on arrival when officers from SWROCU intercepted him.
In April, Saunders-Pope pleaded guilty to several charges, including attempting to communicate with a child for sexual purposes, arranging or facilitating a sexual act with a minor, creating three indecent images involving a child, distributing such images, possessing a pornographic image deemed extreme, and possessing cocaine, a Class A drug.
