DARLINGTON MAN JAILED FOR POURING BLEACH ON PARTNER DURING DOMESTIC ROW
A man from Darlington, Paul Hamilton, appeared in court for pouring bleach over his partner during a domestic altercation.
The court heard that Hamilton, aged 50, conducted this violent act at his home on February 18.
Prosecutor John Garside described the incident, stating that Hamilton poured bleach down his partner’s front and rubbed it into her scalp during an argument.
The victim, wearing a V-neck pyjama top, reported feeling a burning sensation from the bleach and was later taken to hospital for treatment.
Hamilton initially denied pouring bleach on her’s hair but admitted to rubbing his hand and bleach into her scalp.
He pleaded guilty to assault on the basis that he was retaliating for her actions.
The court sentenced Hamilton to 12 weeks in custody, suspended for 12 months, along with a 12-month community supervision order requiring 140 hours of unpaid work.
He was also ordered to pay £250 in compensation and £50 in court costs.
