PAUL FIANDER PENSNETT PENSIONER SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON SCHOOLGIRL IN PENSNETT
In a case that has shocked the community of Pensnett, a local pensioner named Paul Fiander has been sentenced to four years in prison following his conviction for sexual attacks on a young schoolgirl. The incident has left residents and authorities alike deeply concerned about the safety of children in the area.During the sentencing at Wolverhampton Crown Court, Judge Nicholas Webb emphasized the vulnerability of the victim, highlighting the serious nature of the crimes committed by Fiander. The judge stated, "It is unknown what effect your actions will have on her emotional development," underscoring the potential long-term psychological impact on the young girl.
Paul Fiander, aged 65 and residing on Blewitt Street in Pensnett, was also ordered to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life. Additionally, he was placed under an indefinite Sex Offenders Protection Order, which imposes strict restrictions aimed at safeguarding the community from further harm.
Fiander, who acts as a carer for his partner, maintained his innocence throughout the trial. He had pleaded not guilty to two charges of sexual assault involving a young child. However, after the jury deliberated and reached a verdict, he was found guilty of the charges. The jury's decision came after careful consideration of the evidence presented during the trial.
Laura Hobson, representing Fiander, a man described as having a previous record of good character, expressed her client's devastation over the proceedings. She conveyed that Fiander was deeply affected by the conviction and that many people who knew him still found it difficult to believe he had been found guilty. Hobson also noted that these individuals would have no hesitation in leaving their children in his care, reflecting the community's divided perception of the case.
The case has sparked widespread discussion about child safety and the importance of vigilance within local communities like Pensnett, where residents are now grappling with the implications of the court's verdict and the need to protect vulnerable children from potential harm.
