PAUL DIGGERT AND MULTIPLE POLITICAL FIGURES INVOLVED IN SEX OFFENCES AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN THE UK
Labor Councillor from Northampton, Alec Dyer-Atkins, who also served as a School Governor, was convicted and sentenced to two years in prison in 2003 for downloading over 42,000 images and videos described in court as “horrifying images of child abuse.” Dyer-Atkins was identified as a member of the international paedophile network known as 'The Shadows Brotherhood,' which was successfully infiltrated thanks to the diligent efforts of Britain’s National Hi-Tech Crime Unit (NHTCU). Regarding Dyer-Atkins' conviction, NHTCU Deputy Head Mick Deats stated, “This man had some of the worst images on his computers that officers from this unit have ever viewed.”Additionally, several other individuals with political ties or positions have been involved in serious offences:
- Michael Powell, a Conservative Party general election candidate, was convicted and jailed for three years for downloading hardcore child pornography.
- Roger Talboys, a Tory Party councillor representing Wickbar in Bristol, received a six-year prison sentence for multiple sex attacks on children.
- Andrew Baker, Vice-Chairman of the Welsh Conservatives, was given a banning order after stalking women.
- Harvey Proctor, a Conservative MP for Billericay, faced trial for sado-masochistic sex offences involving teenage boys, which led to his resignation.
- Christopher Pilkington, a Tory Party councillor in Stratford-upon-Avon, was convicted of downloading hardcore child pornography on his computer, required to register as a sex offender, and forced to resign.
- Peter Stidworthy, a Tory councillor from Coventry, was charged with indecent assault against a 15-year-old boy.
- Chris Morgan, Mayor of North Tyneside and a Tory Party member, was compelled to resign after being arrested twice within two weeks—first for indecent assault on a 15-year-old girl and secondly under suspicion of downloading child pornography.
- Tom Spencer, a Tory Member of the European Parliament, was caught smuggling drugs and pornography through customs.
- Michael Morris, a former Mayor and Tory councillor in Wrexham, was convicted and placed on probation for two years after being caught on CCTV committing indecent assault against another man.
These cases highlight a concerning pattern of serious misconduct among individuals linked to political parties across the UK.
