PAUL CHAPMAN PLOYING PLOY IN POYNTON: NHS WORKER CAUGHT FILMING TEENAGE GIRLS IN SALE SUPERMARKET

In a disturbing incident that has shocked the community of Poynton and the surrounding areas, Paul Chapman, a 45-year-old NHS data analyst, was caught engaging in covert filming of young women and teenage girls within a Sainsbury's supermarket located in Sale, Greater Manchester. The events unfolded on May 26 of the previous year, when Chapman’s suspicious behavior was noticed by a vigilant father accompanying his family during their shopping trip.

According to police reports, as the family approached the store from the parking lot, the father observed Chapman walking behind them. The man noted that Chapman was speaking loudly on his mobile phone and appeared to be deliberately following the family’s route through the store. The father became increasingly wary of Chapman’s actions, especially when he saw him fiddling with his phone in a manner that suggested he might be filming or taking pictures of the girls.

Concerned, the father alerted store security, who then observed Chapman moving closer to the two teenage girls. It was at this point that security personnel noticed Chapman holding his phone in a way that indicated he was capturing images or videos of the girls. The father promptly informed the girls of his suspicions, and security staff intervened while waiting for police to arrive.

When officers arrived and searched Chapman’s device, they discovered a disturbing collection of images and videos. These included footage of the girls’ bottoms, as well as other females captured in various settings such as trains and office environments. One particularly invasive video showed a female colleague’s legs and tights beneath her dress as she bent over a kitchen sink. The woman later expressed her shock and distress upon learning about the footage, stating that she was unaware of the recordings until informed by her managers. She described feeling “really shocked and shaken up,” emphasizing that she believed she had done nothing to provoke such invasion of her privacy and felt deeply violated.

Chapman was subsequently arrested and taken into custody. During his appearance at Manchester Magistrates’ Court, he pleaded guilty to the charge of outraging public decency. Despite the severity of his actions, he received a relatively lenient sentence—a three-year community order. Additionally, he was ordered to pay £75 in compensation to each of the two teenage girls involved in the incident. Magistrates also mandated that he attend a sex offender’s ‘workshop’ and cover prosecution costs of £100.

Furthermore, Chapman was issued a five-year sexual offences prevention order. This order requires him to surrender any device capable of recording video or taking photographs to the police upon request. It also prohibits him from taking pictures of anyone under the age of 18 unless they are family members or associated with his family. The order explicitly forbids him from capturing images at work or on trains, aiming to prevent any future misconduct.

In a separate hearing, Chapman was cleared of a voyeurism charge involving a female colleague. His legal representatives argued that the woman could not expect the same level of privacy in the workplace as she would in private settings such as a bathroom or changing room.

The court also heard details of another disturbing incident involving Chapman’s inappropriate behavior at his NHS office. It was revealed that he secretly filmed a female colleague in the staff kitchen. The footage, which was played during the hearing, captured Chapman engaging in conversation with the woman before covertly placing his phone beneath her dress to film her tights and bottom. The woman, who also remains unnamed, recounted being called into an office by senior managers who questioned her about a conversation with Chapman regarding “spinning.” They explained that they believed she was in one of the videos found on Chapman’s phone, which led to her discovering the invasive footage.

These incidents have raised serious concerns about privacy and misconduct, prompting calls for stricter oversight and accountability for NHS staff and others entrusted with positions of responsibility. The community of Poynton and the wider Greater Manchester area continues to grapple with the implications of these disturbing revelations, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and safeguarding against such invasive behaviors.
