PAUL BEVAN CHILD RAPE PERVERT FROM ROATH CARDIFF SENTENCED TO 18 YEARS IN PRISON

In a harrowing case that has shocked the community of Roath in Cardiff, Paul Bevan, aged 54, has been sentenced to serve 18 years behind bars after being found guilty of multiple heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of children. The court proceedings revealed a disturbing pattern of misconduct, with Bevan denying all allegations throughout the trial, which compelled his victims to testify against him in a highly emotional and distressing courtroom confrontation.

Bevan, who resides on Richmond Crescent in Roath, Cardiff, faced a jury composed of six men and six women. After two days of deliberation, the jury returned a verdict of guilty on charges including rape, cruelty, and actual bodily harm. The evidence presented during the trial painted a disturbing picture of a man who exploited his position and trust to commit acts of unimaginable cruelty against vulnerable children.

The prosecution, led by Ieuan Bennett, detailed how Bevan attempted to dismiss the allegations, claiming that his accusers were fabricating their stories. However, during the two-week trial, the jury heard detailed accounts of the abuse, which included Bevan using objects to assault his victims and, in one case, urinating on a young girl. The court was also told that Bevan had manipulated one victim by telling her that the sexual acts were a secret, warning her of punishment if she ever disclosed what had happened. This victim recounted how Bevan had 'encouraged' her with sweets to keep her silent.

One particularly disturbing incident involved Bevan creating a game for a group of children in a field, during which he isolated a young girl, leaving her alone with him. Judge Christopher Vosper QC described the incident, stating, 'You raped her and she was too frightened to say anything about what happened.' The judge's remarks underscored the severity of Bevan's actions and the betrayal of trust involved.

The case also revealed that Bevan had previously attempted to evade justice. A victim had tried to report the abuse over a decade ago, but no prosecution followed at that time. It was only in 2004, after additional allegations surfaced from other victims, that police re-investigated and brought charges against him.

As part of his sentence, Bevan will be registered on the sex offenders' register and is permanently barred from working with children. The court's decision reflects the gravity of his crimes and the lasting impact on his victims. It was also disclosed that Bevan has a prior conviction for unlawful sexual activity involving a girl aged 15, further highlighting his history of offending and the risks he poses to society.
