NOTTINGHAMSHIRE EX-TEACHER LED DOUBLE LIFE AS PERVERT WITH 33,000 SICK CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
A Nottinghamshire teacher with a 35-year career was found to have secretly been a paedophile, consuming videos that contained child rape for his sexual pleasure.In court, Nottingham Crown Court was told that Paul Aspden had confessed to police that he had been downloading and viewing horrific images of child abuse since the early days of internet use.
A police raid on his Bingham home uncovered more than 33,000 such images, some featuring children as young as two.
It was also highlighted that Aspden is so anxious about his criminal conduct being discovered that he is planning to change his residence.
His defense lawyer, Chris Brewin, explained that Aspden had spent 35 years teaching humanities and was leading a double life.
Mr.
Brewin mentioned Aspden’s involvement in caring for an 89-year-old neighbour with vascular dementia and a relative in their 70s who also suffers from dementia, indicating his willingness to be helpful.
He further told the court that this conduct had persisted over a long period, although there are no allegations of direct contact with victims.
Aspden’s current anxiety stems from the fear of exposure, and moving house will likely be a form of punishment regardless of the outcome of the case.
Prosecutor Louise Howard stated that police realized Aspden’s online activity was linked to the illegal images and, on November 5, 2024, executed a search warrant at his home on Charnwood Grove.
During the investigation, he admitted to possessing several electronic devices, which were subsequently seized and analyzed.
