PAUL ANDREWS FROM ORMSGILL AND BARROW INDICTED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
In October 2007, a disturbing case emerged involving Paul Gordon Andrews, a man with a history of sexual offences against children, who had recently moved to the town of Barrow, specifically residing in the Ormsgill area.Andrews, aged 41, was found to have engaged in a series of heinous acts involving young boys, which ultimately led to his arrest and subsequent court proceedings.
The allegations against Andrews came to light when a vigilant school teacher overheard a conversation between two young boys.
Recognizing that something was amiss, the teacher promptly contacted both police authorities and social services to investigate the matter further.
This intervention proved crucial in uncovering the extent of Andrews' misconduct.
It was revealed that Andrews had been living at a flat located in Meetings View, Ormsgill.
During police interviews, Andrews admitted to showing children indecent images on his mobile phone and engaging in sexual abuse.
The offences involved three boys, with two of them aged 13 and the third just 11 years old.
The court heard that these children had visited Andrews' flat on multiple occasions, where he had offered them a place to hang out, provided cigarettes, and allowed them to watch television.
One of the boys recounted that Andrews had told him he was bisexual and had described sexual acts he had performed with other men.
Andrews also displayed photographs of sexual acts on his mobile device, which further implicated him in the abuse.
