ABERDEEN MAN SENTENCED TO 3 YEARS FOR MANSLAUGHTER OF PARTNER
A former Aberdeen man has been sentenced to three years in prison after being convicted of manslaughter for the death of his partner, Katrina Fletcher. The incident occurred at their residence in Keswick, Cumbria, on September 11 of the previous year.
Katrina Fletcher was rushed to hospital following the attack but tragically died from her injuries two weeks later. The court proceedings revealed that paramedics attended Webster’s home after he reported that his partner had consumed vodka and appeared to overdose on an unknown substance.
Upon arrival, paramedics observed that Ms.
Fletcher had sustained injuries, prompting them to contact police.
Webster, who formerly resided in the Torry area of Aberdeen, admitted that he and his partner had frequently argued and that they fought on the day of the incident.
He disclosed that he had pushed her and suspected she might have hit her head during their altercation.Webster stated he believed she had been in a state of unconsciousness for about an hour before he called emergency services.
When told by paramedics that Ms.
Fletcher had a significant head injury, Webster responded, "That was me then." However, he gave no comment during police interviews but later pleaded guilty to manslaughter in court.Detective Chief Inspector Craig Smith of Cumbria Police expressed that Katrina Fletcher suffered severe injuries, and Webster’s delay in contacting emergency services significantly reduced her chances of survival.
Smith emphasized that Webster's dishonesty about the extent of her injuries compounded the tragedy.
Authorities have used this case to urge victims and witnesses of domestic abuse to seek help, highlighting the importance of reporting and preventing further harm.
