ROTHERHAM MAN JAILED FOR CONTROLLING AND VIOLENT ABUSE INCLUDING FORCING GIRLFRIEND TO TATTOO HIS BIRTHDAY
A violent partner who "dehumanised" and attacked his pregnant girlfriend, forcing her to have his birthday tattooed on her ribs, has been sentenced to jail.Patrick Eastwood threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend and her cat during his abusive campaign, which included stamping on her chest.
In a recording made by the victim, he was heard to say, "I will bite your face until it bleeds.
I will kill you." Eastwood’s repeated assaults left his ex-partner a "shadow of her former self" and required her to undergo counseling to recover from the long-lasting effects, which included physical injuries.
He stamped on her with such force that she believed she had suffered fractured ribs.
The victim also had to undergo nasal reconstruction surgery after Eastwood headbutted her.
Eastwood, from Albert Road, Rotherham, also forced her to change her hairstyle, isolated her from family and friends, and made her move departments at work for fear she was receiving male attention.
Prosecutor Andrew Bailey explained that the couple met in 2015, and the victim moved in with Eastwood in 2018.
He told the court, "He said it was not her house and he could kick her out at any time." The victim discovered she was pregnant but was beaten by Eastwood, who left her with a broken nose; she subsequently terminated the pregnancy.
The victim described feeling dehumanized, unloved, and insecure.
She suffered years of abuse, including being attacked after returning home from a shift, where Eastwood was found passed out with a friend, surrounded by bottles of spirits.
When she tried to wake him, he called her a "psycho" and became violent, punching her and stamping on her face.
He also took her phone and smashed it when she tried to call the police.
The court noted that Eastwood was sentenced to 30 months in prison after admitting to coercive and controlling behavior.
Judge Abdul Iqbal QC stated, "There is no doubt a different side to you.
Your sustained offending had a severe physical and psychological impact on your victim."
