WILTSHIRE MAN FINED £3,050 FOR COW ABUSE
Oscar Puddick (birthname Charles Puddick), a supporter of the notorious Beaufort Hunt, has been convicted of animal cruelty. He pleaded guilty to physically abusing a Holstein Friesian cow at Foyles abattoir in Cinderford on January 27, 2022.
The incident involved Puddick repeatedly pulling the cow's ears and tail while she was lying down during transportation, in a manner that could cause unnecessary pain or suffering.
Puddick was charged with failing to ensure the animal's welfare under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and also pleaded guilty to failing to comply with transport regulations.
Although he initially pleaded not guilty, he changed his plea to guilty in June 2025.
An additional charge of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal was dismissed due to lack of evidence.
He was sentenced to pay a fine of £500, with additional costs of £2,500 and a surcharge of £50, totaling £3,050.
Puddick's association with the disgraced Beaufort Hunt and his prior support for hunting groups are noted, and he is identified as a well-known supporter among hunt saboteurs in Wiltshire.
