OLUBUNMI ABOLUMO SENTENCED TO 13 YEARS IN PRISON IN CROYDON FOR SEX OFFENCES INVOLVING UNDERAGE GIRLS
In July 2017, a man from New Addington, Croydon, named Olubunmi Abolumo, was sentenced to 13 years in prison after secretly filming sexual acts with underage girls. The 29-year-old was convicted of multiple charges related to his misconduct. Abolumo, residing on Central Parade in New Addington, was found guilty of sexual offences against a 15-year-old girl, producing indecent images of children, and voyeurism. In a previous hearing at Croydon Crown Court in February, he pleaded guilty to 25 counts of making indecent images of a child and one count of voyeurism. Following a trial at the same court, a jury convicted him last month of three counts of engaging in sexual activity with a minor. However, he was acquitted of two counts of rape involving two different victims.
Abolumo's crimes involved grooming young girls via social media by pretending to be a teenage boy. He persuaded them to visit his address, where he secretly recorded himself sexually assaulting them. The footage was stored on his laptop, which was recovered after his arrest. He was taken into custody in August of the previous year and has remained in custody since then.
