CHIRNSIDE MAN SENTENCED AT JEDBURGH SHERIFF COURT
October 2025: A 20-YEAR-OLD male who admitted a series of assaults has been ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.Oliver Inkpen, who gave an address in Chirnside, also pleaded guilty to threatening or abusive behaviour and breaching his bail conditions.
June 2025: BACKGROUND reports have been ordered into a teenager who admitted a series of two offences over two complaints.
Oliver Inkpen pleaded guilty at Jedburgh Sheriff Court to causing a disturbance in Eyemouth Police Station.
The 19-year-old admitted a charge of damaging a door handle on January 20 and also behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by uttering threats of violence, swearing and directing homophobic remarks towards police officers.
Inkpen, of East Croftsfield, pleaded guilty to a third charge of sending offensive messages on his phone.
He also pleaded guilty to a breach of bail conditions and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting and swearing, uttering offensive remarks and challenging police officers to fight in Gowanlea, Coldstream, on December 30.
Inkpen also admitted a charge under the Domestic Abuse Act.
Between November 1 and February 2 at Home Place, Coldstream, he engaged in a course of conduct which was abusive to a partner or ex-partner.
He repeatedly contacted her, repeatedly ordered takeaways in her name to be delivered to her address, repeatedly uttered derogatory remarks towards her, Facetimed her when asked not to contact her and smashed a window at her home.
Sentence was deferred for the production of a Criminal Justice Social Work Report, a Restriction of Liberty Order assessment and a Caledonian Men’s Programme assessment.
The case will recall at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on July 14.
